Armases ist eine Gattung der Krabben aus der Familie der Sesarmidae mit elf Arten.cite-ref-worms-1-0[1] Sie bewohnen die Gezeitenzone, Flussmündungen, Mangroven und auch Süßwasser und kommen bis auf 330 m Höhe vor. Das Verbreitungsgebiet umfasst den gemäßigten Nordatlantik, den tropischen Atlantik und den tropischen Ostpazifik.cite-ref-poore-2-0[2] Der Gattungsname ist ein Anagramm von Sesarma.cite-ref-abele-3-0[3]

Merkmale
Armases wird bis zu 27 mm lang. Der Carapax ist breiter als lang, die Rückenseite flach. Der epibranchiale Zahn ist schwach ausgeprägt. Die Stirn hat eine seichte Einziehung.cite-ref-poore-2-1[2] Der äußere Augenhöhlenwinkel ist spitz, der vordere Seitenrand glatt. Die Oberseite der Hand (Propodus) der Scheren (Chelae) ist bei Männchen gekörnt.cite-ref-abele-3-1[3]
